Are there other cenotes to visit in the Dos Ojos cenote park?

Yes, you will find almost 30 cenotes in this park.

The greater Parque Dos Ojos cenote area covers about 51 miles of flooded cave system and over 28 known sinkholes. However, consider that not all cenotes belong just to one owner.

For that reason, and also due to its connection to the Sac Actun System, more experienced divers also find it one of the most interesting cenotes to visit and explore.

What if you don’t practice scuba diving? Is Dos Ojos still worth a visit?

In a word, definitely!

Here, we’re talking about one of the most spectacular cenotes in the Riviera Maya (and actually in the whole world). Its waters have a fascinating crystal clear kind of luminescent blue color that makes snorkeling or just swimming an extraordinary experience.

Cenote Dos Ojos is an excellent place to simply spend a beautiful and refreshing day in the company of your friends or family, as it includes some great facilities such as a restaurant, changing rooms, bathrooms, and there are even a few lockers for rent which come quite handy when you want to get in the water and need to keep your belongings safe.

You can also find snorkel gear for rental at this cenote.

Is it possible to visit the Dos Ojos cenote by yourself or with a guide?

Both options are possible!

At the entrance to Parque Dos Ojos they will ask you if you want:

  • a tour by yourself
  • a guided tour

Unless you want to explore the tunnel that we have already talked about and go on a diving tour, an activity for which the company of a guide is mandatory, we recommend that you visit the cenote without a guide to discover it in your own way.

What are the rules for swimming in the cenotes?

Cenotes are extremely fragile ecosystems. Therefore, it is essential to respect very strict hygiene measures before swimming to avoid contaminating the waters of the cenotes.

It is prohibited to use sunscreen or mosquito repellent before entering the water.

A shower before entering the cenote is mandatory to remove all traces of these highly polluting products from your body.
